Crisis Materials (2020)

Crisis Materials is a short film that features an original poem from Johnny Lee Chapman, III, movement from Anthony Otto Nelson, Jr. and VITAL Health wreaths made by community members. The film unpacks 2020 and all the layers we are all working through as a community.
The fourth film that Proxemic Media collaborated with Lee, Ay-Jaye, and producer Mike Williams, this project required an entire new set of rules given Covid safety precautions. Rehearsals were outside and in the morning in a race against the North Carolina summer mid-day sun. It was a very conscious practice to work together as a team remaining at least six feet apart and masks covering our faces.
Though the filming is complete and has premiered to the world, the work on this piece is not yet done! This spring we are working towards a live presentation of the work. Stay tuned for details!
